DIAGNOSTICS & INSPECTIONS
Mobile Car Diagnostics & Inspections in San Jose
Find out exactly what’s wrong with your vehicle before you spend a dollar on repairs. Our mobile diagnostic service uses professional OBD-II scan tools and hands-on inspection to deliver clear, honest answers — at your home or office.

Diagnose the Problem Before You Pay for the Fix
A check engine light, a strange noise, or a car that just doesn’t feel right — most shops will tell you to “drop it off for a few days.” We do it differently. We come to your driveway, plug into your vehicle’s onboard diagnostic system, and give you a real answer in under an hour.
Whether you’re tracking down an intermittent electrical gremlin, considering buying a used car, or just trying to understand a warning light, you’ll get a professional assessment with photos, scan data, and an honest breakdown of what needs attention now versus what can wait.
What’s Included
- Full OBD-II / OBD-I diagnostic scan with live data
- Check engine, ABS, airbag, and TPMS warning light analysis
- Electrical system testing (battery, alternator, parasitic draws)
- Drivability diagnostics — misfires, stalling, rough idle, hesitation
- Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) inspection
- Pre-purchase inspections for used vehicles
- Written report with photos and prioritized recommendations
When You Should Book a Diagnostic
If your vehicle is doing any of the following, a professional diagnostic now is far cheaper than guessing later.
Check Engine Light
Solid or flashing — both mean the ECU has logged a fault. Driving with an active code can turn a $150 sensor into a $2,000 catalytic converter.
Strange Noises
Clunks, ticks, whines, and grinding noises almost always have a specific cause. We isolate the source before recommending any repair.
Performance Problems
Rough idle, hesitation, hard starts, or poor fuel economy are diagnosable issues — not just “old car” symptoms.
Buying a Used Car
A pre-purchase inspection is the best $150–$250 you’ll ever spend. We catch hidden damage, deferred maintenance, and accident history before you sign.
How Mobile Diagnostics Works
- Book in Minutes
Submit your vehicle info and describe the symptom — warning light, noise, performance issue. We’ll confirm a time and price upfront.
- We Come to You
Our technician arrives at your home, office, or wherever your vehicle is parked with professional scan tools and inspection equipment.
- Plug In & Inspect
We pull live data and stored codes from every module — engine, transmission, ABS, airbag — and combine that with a hands-on inspection.
- Clear Written Report
You’ll get the scan data, photos, and an honest breakdown of what’s actually wrong, what’s optional, and what the repair will cost.
- Repair on the Same Visit (When Possible)
If the fix is something we can do on-site, we’ll quote it and complete it the same day. Otherwise we’ll schedule the follow-up.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a mobile diagnostic cost?
Our standard diagnostic service is a flat $150 fee that covers the scan, inspection, and a written report. If you choose to proceed with the recommended repair, $150 is credited toward the work. Pre-purchase inspections are priced separately based on vehicle type.
Can you diagnose intermittent problems?
Often, yes. Modern vehicles store “freeze frame” data even when a fault isn’t actively present. If a code has tripped recently, we can usually pull enough data to identify the cause.
Do you do pre-purchase inspections in the Bay Area?
Yes. We meet you (or the seller) anywhere in the Bay Area, perform a full mechanical and cosmetic inspection, scan the vehicle’s computer, and send you a written report with photos before you commit.
Will you fix the problem during the same visit?
Whenever possible, yes. If the repair requires parts we don’t carry on the truck, we’ll quote the work and schedule a follow-up — usually within a few days.
What if the issue requires shop-level work?
We’ll tell you upfront. For jobs that genuinely need a lift or specialized equipment, we’ll give you an honest assessment, the data and photos to share with another shop, and a recommendation for next steps. You won’t pay for work we can’t do.
Can you read codes from older or European vehicles?
Yes. Our scan tools cover OBD-II (1996+) for all makes including BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, and others. For pre-1996 vehicles, we use compatible OBD-I tools and manual diagnostic procedures.
